Reviewing The Many Different Styles Of Black Wheels

by Ben Pate

It's true - black tires on a car definitely make that car stand out! But there are different shades of "black" available - such as flat, glossy and hyper. So, which one should you choose? Well, here's a short summary of the three different shades, a few ideas of what type of car looks good with them, and some very general information on prices.

Glossy Black - A color that is lustrous and sleek, this shade of rim goes on any car with a good paint job. They are perfect for the person who likes to stand out and show his car off to the world - and should not be considered by anyone who wishes to blend in with the crowd.

Glossy black wheels and tires would be great on one of those economically sound, hybrid cars; in fact, they would give it the look of a brand new toy car - only life size! And, pairing up these rims with a car sporting a flashy red or bright yellow paint job would only make it look sportier. Moreover, they also go great on any type of sedan.

But remember, these rims aren't cheap. Brand new - and depending on what size and brand you're after - they can cost you anywhere from $500 for a hybrid or compact car, all the way up to $2,500 per set for the really expensive automobile.

Flat Black - "Flat" black is a shade that is rather "emotionless" as far as flash is concerned. It's a dull and understated uniform black, with no hints of anything else in its make up. Rims of this shade go well on an automobile that is "no nonsense" in a "government vehicle" sort of way.

This shade of rim is often seen on those compact and sub-compact family cars that have by-passed the family, and have gone straight to the race track! Paired with an equally flat black or other dark color paint job, they give a car that serious "out to win" look that is desired by the driver. This rim type is not quite as costly as the glossy, but is still up there in price. You can replicate that "race day" look on your own compact or sub-compact vehicle with new rims - starting at around four hundred dollars per set for the stock kind, and upwards from there, depending on size and brand.

Hyper Black - These are rims that are actually a chrome color in which a distant cousin of the black shade is made to gleam through. The end result is a look that's subtle and understated - yet expensive-looking, as well. Cars that look really nice with these rims on are those such as the mini "gangster-type" type car. New, they start out around two hundred dollar per set, and go up from there.

When you're looking for black car tires, don't forget to include the online auction houses in your search. Sometimes you can find sets of alloy wheels in whatever shade you want for about seven hundred per set, as they include tires. And if that's a bargain that's still too much for you, then you may be able to find the same thing in the "gently" used category, for hundreds of dollars less than this.
